Keeping Up on Home Maintenance

Posted: September 26, 2016 by Brook

Fall is a great time to try and catch up on maintenance items around the house that may have taken a back seat to family outings and other activities over the summer months. Here are a few top-line services to consider:

Garage door service. Hear those creaks, pops and bangs? Your door is talking to you so make sure you don’t ignore it. Doors (especially those made of wood) can become a danger to you and your family if not property maintained. Regular service calls are relatively inexpensive, but can get costlier if they are performed “not-so-regularly.”

HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) service. Remember the yellow pollen that coated your car in the latter part of the spring, or the dust that made its way into the house when you left your windows open over the summer? Those particulates are likely clogging up your furnace filter which can cause diminished air flow and poor system performance.

Don’t forget about your dryer vent! Dirty duct lines from your lint-spewing dryer can be a fire hazard. If you’ve not had it done recently, or you’re noticing your clothes taking a bit longer to dry than they used to, you may want to have your ducts cleaned.
